Feb. 18, 2003 — Fairchild Semiconductor signed a long-term production deal with OMM Inc. to supply its MEMS wafers for optical networking applications, according to a news release.
The deal was based on Fairchild’s successful transfer of SUMMiT IV fabrication process technology from Sandia National Laboratories. Fairchild said that by working closely with OMM, the semiconductor maker had completed the transition of the process into volume production, the release said.
OMM said the Fairchild-manufactured wafers will provide significant yield and cost improvements.
