German firm unveils new AFM

March 13, 2002 — WITec GmbH, an Ulm, Germany, manufacturer of scientific and industrial equipment, announced the introduction of a new atomic force microscopy system.

The Mercury 100 AFM system is designed specifically for materials research and nanotechnology and includes a new feature for the nondestructive imaging of various material properties along with topography. It also supports all standard AFM modes.
