March 27, 2003 — Infineon Technologies and MetriGenix Inc. have launched a line of three-dimensional microarrays and analysis systems for rapid and efficient drug screening, according to a news release.
The Flow-Thru chips are miniaturized sample substrates made of silicon, on which hundreds of simultaneous tests can be done using optical evaluation techniques. Available tests include lung and breast cancer, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis, the release said.
The system, developed jointly by Germany-based Infineon and Maryland-based MetriGenix, is designed for pharmaceutical and biotech companies for research, screening and diagnostics.
