CleanRooms signs deal to co-locate show with PDA

NASHUA, N.H.—Life sciences and cleanroom professionals can now attend a forum that for the first time brings drug manufacturing and contamination control technology under one roof, thanks to a multi-year contract the CleanRooms Group of PennWell Corp. has signed with Bethesda, Md.-based PDA, an international association for pharmaceutical science and technology.

From March 8-12, 2004, CleanRooms East and PDA Week will be co-located at the Orlando County Convention Center's Hall B1 in Orlando, Fla.

The publishers of CleanRooms magazine and PDA officials say the co-located event in Orlando will be a “one-stop shop” for life sciences professionals seeking cutting-edge expertise and state-of-the-art technology for contamination control and drug manufacturing.

James Enos, vice president and group publishing director for the CleanRooms Group, says the contract with PDA will allow CleanRooms Group conferences to expand to a three-day program, while PDA will offer a five-day, multi-track series of scientific sessions and education courses.

The alliance, he adds, enables both organizations to provide a more value-added and well-rounded educational forum for their customers and members who are involved in the life sciences, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

“We are thrilled to partner with PDA—an established, well-respected industry organization,” Enos says. “This agreement allows the CleanRooms Group and PDA to not only maintain our respective identities, but it also provides attendees of both events the chance to participate in a forum that embraces two distinct, yet harmonious technologies.”

Co-locating, he says, broadens the spectrum of marketing and access for end users, members and exhibitors who, in the past, had to plan to attend two separate events. “Now they can attend one content-rich event, in a convenient and accessible format,” Enos says.

Newly appointed PDA president Neal G. Koller agrees, saying the association is “very sensitive to the ever increasing demands on our members.”

“By marrying our traditional PDA Spring and Annual Meetings into a single event to be co-located with CleanRooms East, we can deliver a broader spectrum, content-enriched opportunity for industry professionals, resulting in less time away from the company,” Koller adds.

And this is just the beginning of what the CleanRooms Group and PDA can build together, says Adam Japko, president of the Advanced Technology Division of PennWell Corp. “This co-location, a cornerstone of the agreement, will undoubtedly grow and prosper into other industry ventures internationally to further benefit life sciences professionals worldwide,” he says.
