California nano group gets state seed funding

May 13, 2003 – The state of California is giving $50,000 to a new regional group devoted to boosting nano-related science and business, according to a news release.

The state’s Technology, Trade and Commerce Agency will give the money to the Bay Area Nanotechnology Initiative to map the region’s assets, including its laboratories, venture capital and workforce. The initiative, an outgrowth of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, hopes the funding is followed by federal and private dollars, the release said
