Microlab becomes Magfusion

May 1, 2003 — Microlab Inc. is changing its name today to Magfusion Inc., according to a news release.

Officials with the Arizona-based, radio-frequency (RF) MEMS startup said the new name signals its transition from research and development to production of electromagnetic-based switches and relays. They say Magfusion’s microscopic latching switch uses less energy and is more durable than other approaches.

Applications include automated test equipment used to check the signal integrity of semiconductors, and wireless, which includes cell phones and wireless local-area network applications, the company said.
