Ziptronix announces $17M second round

May 29, 2003 — Ziptronix Inc., a developer of semiconductor and MEMS design and manufacturing processes, announced $17.4 million second-round funding.

New investors Grotech Capital Group and Intersouth Partners led the round. New investors Research Triangle Ventures, Research Triangle Institute, MCNC Enterprise Fund and iSherpa Capital also participated along with previous investors Alliance Technology Ventures and Xilinx Corp. Ziptronix previously raised $6.5 million in January, 2001.

The funds will be used to complete the company’s new manufacturing facility and to accelerate product development.
