Analog, IBM develop DSP chip

June 19, 2003 – Analog Devices has developed a new digital signal processing chip, using manufacturing services from IBM. Details were not disclosed as to the value of the deal, or the extent of the manufacturing and design collaboration.

The deal is good news for IBM, which continues to make a push in the foundry business against leaders TSMC and UMC. However, analysts say the win won’t cause many ripples — while a longtime customer of TSMC, Analog is not one of their top-tier accounts, and most companies use more than one manufacturing source.
