June 19, 2003 — The Canadian Microelectronics Corp. (CMC) has launched a virtual laboratory for researchers in microsystems and photonics, according to a news release.
The $23 million National Microelectronics and Photonics Testing Collaboratory seeks to enable researchers at 22 universities to use the Internet to access resources, as well as test and validate high-performance microchip designs, the release said.
The Kingston, Ontario-based CMC, funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada with matching industrial contributions, delivers research infrastructure for the design, manufacture and testing of microchips.
