Nanosys licenses more IP

June 9, 2003 — Nanosys Inc., a Palo Alto, Calif., developer of nano-enabled systems, announced it has secured worldwide exclusive rights to commercialize nanocomposite solar cell technology from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Columbia University.

“This addition to our intellectual property portfolio demonstrates our commitment and belief that a strong IP position and an excellent team go hand-in-hand in successfully building a new technology platform,” said Stephen Empedocles, Nanosys director of business development, in a prepared statement.

Photovoltaics is one of three development programs Nanosys has under way. Late last year, the company announced a partnership with Matsushita Electric Works to commercialize the technology.
