Nanotechnologies Inc. signs deal to develop nano-based eyewear

June 3, 2003 – Nanotechnologies Inc. has teamed up with eyeglass and contact lens maker Essilor International to develop new products based on nanoparticle technology, according to a news release.

Nanotechnologies, based in Austin, Texas, said its techniques produce high-performance nanoparticles for transparent coatings, anti-microbial products and electronic materials.  The France-based Essilor, which trades on the Euronext Paris exchange, said it uses nanoscale technology to make its Crizal anti-reflective lenses, and seeks to boost the role that it plays in future eyewear products, the release said.
