FEI scoops up firms

July 16, 2003 – FEI Co., Hillsboro, OR, has acquired two companies to complement its circuit edit and design-to-yield business.

The first deal, worth $6 million in cash, brings in EGSoft, a division of Electroglas, and its Knights Technology lines of CAD navigation and fab yield management software, which will be rebranded as FEI Knights. FEI will also assume control of the company’s engineering operations in Mumbai, India.

The other deal is for privately held Revise Inc. for its laser etching technologies, which will be used with FEI’s circuit edit products with an eye towards future applications in MEMS and micro optics.
