Ion Optics names CEO

July 9, 2003 – Ion Optics, a Waltham, MA maker of MEMS-based infrared gas sensors, has tabbed Christopher Mather as CEO, replacing founder Edward Johnson who stays on as the company’s CTO. Mather, who was the company’s COO since 2001, previously held executive management positions at APSCO, Thermo Electron, and American Power Converison.

Ion Optics names CEO

July 10, 2003 — Ion Optics Inc., a Waltham, Mass., developer of MEMS-based infrared gas sensors, named Christopher Mather chief executive and a director, according to a news release.

Mather, who has 20 years of experience in high-tech businesses, has served as Ion Optics’ acting chief operating officer since November 2001. Before that, he was president and CEO of APSCO, a Cleveland-based electric manufacturing services provider. He replaces Ion Optics founder Edward Johnson, who becomes chief technology officer and a director.
