July 3, 2003 – Milpitas, CA – Chipmaker LSI Logic Corp. says its 2Q net loss will be wider than expected, despite an increase in sales.
LSI says it will record a net loss per share of $0.43 to $0.51, nearly double its previous estimates; excluding “special” items relating to restructuring moves, the company actually trimmed its losses. Second-quarter sales will also increase about 9% from the first quarter.
The jump in net loss will accelerate the company’s plan to sell its manufacturing facilities in Tsukuba, Kapan and Colorado Springs, CO.
