NASA contracts launch ISSYS into space research

July 18, 2003 — Integrated Sensing Systems Inc. (ISSYS) has been awarded three Small Business Innovative Research contracts from NASA.

The Phase I contracts, totaling $210,000, will go toward development of MEMS-based implantable pressure and flow sensors.

Space research is a new area for ISSYS, but officials with the Ypsilanti, Mich.-based firm said these contracts support the larger mission of commercializing implantable systems to monitor and treat heart and brain diseases.
