Silicon Light Machines names CEO

July 2, 2003 — Silicon Light Machines (SLM) promoted Hal Zarem to president and chief executive officer, the company announced in a news release.

San Jose, Calif.-based SLM, a subsidiary of Cypress Semiconductor Corp., said Zarem’s chief job is to move SLM’s MEMS-based Grating Light Valve technology into new markets. The technology, a light modulator on a silicon chip, is used in optical components as well as print and display related products.

Zarem replaces Tom Werner, who becomes CEO of SunPower Corp., a holding of Cypress.
