UL approves Millipore water purification systems

JULY 30–BILLERICA, Mass.-Millipore says that its Milli-Q, Direct-Q, Elix, RiOs and Simplicity water purification systems are now listed by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) and therefore meet UL and C-UL (Canadian) mechanical and electrical safety criteria.

Millipore’s AFS-8 and AFS-16 systems are pending UL and C-UL registration for September 2003. Underwriters Laboratories Inc. is an independent, not-for-profit product safety testing and certification organization. The UL and C-UL registration mark provides further assurance of the safety and reliability of Millipore’s water purification systems.

UL and C-UL listings are important criteria for hospital, university and government laboratories subject to various regulatory authorities. Millipore water purification systems are registered in the Laboratory Electrical Instruments category. The UL and C-UL marks guarantee that the systems meet the specific requirements (UL61010-1) for this category. UL and C-UL listed systems must use classified critical components for safety. In addition, UL audits are conducted regularly to ensure compliance with all UL and C-UL rules.
