TI ships 2 million DLP units

Aug. 6, 2003 — Texas Instruments has shipped 2 million of its Digital Light Processing (DLP) subsystems — with 1 million coming in slightly more than 18 months, according to a news release.

The micromirror-based DLP system is used in projectors, large-screen TVs, digital cinema and optical networking products, but TI said projectors for home and business have provided most of the sales. The technology was launched in 1996.
