Trio joins for 65nm development

August 7, 2003 – Chartered Semiconductor, Singapore, IBM, East Fishkill, NY, and Infineon, Munich, Germany, say they’re working together to develop an advanced foundry process at 65nm.

The deal combines Infineon’s low-power silicon expertise with IBM’s process technology and Chartered’s foundry platform to scale from 90nm down to 65nm, with extensions down to 45nm.

The work will utilize nearly 200 engineers from the three companies at IBM’s Advanced Semiconductor Technology Center, a newly opened 300mm development lab in East Fishkill, NY.
