August 25, 2003 – Vitesse Semiconductor Corp., San Jose, CA, has agreed to sell its optical systems division to Avanex Corp., Fremont, CA, a developer of photonic processing subsystems, in an all-stock deal worth approximately $5.9 million. As part of the deal, which strengthens Avanex’s business for transponders and subsystems, Avanex also will buy up to $2 million in products from Vitesse over the next three years.
