August 28, 2003 – Taiwan’s Advanced Microelectronic Products is operating at over 90% capacity at its 6-in. wafer fab, according to a report in the Taiwan Economic News. The company is using process technologies ranging from 0.2-micron to 0.6-micron, with one fab putting out 20,000 wafers/month.
Advanced Micro claims to be the only domestic 6-in. plant currently making money, although an equipment depreciation of between $8 million and $9 million will keep it in the red throughout the remainder of 2003.
