August 28, 2003 – Japan’s Fujitsu will combine its domestic semiconductor operations in October 2003 in order to boost efficiencies, according to local reports.
The company will merge four of its back-end assembly and test businesses: Fujitsu Miyagi Electronics, Kyushu Fujitsu Electronics, Fujitsu Tojoku Electronics, and Fujitsu VLSI’s manufacturing operations in Gihu, Japan.
The divisions will be reorganized as Fujitsu Integrated Microtechnology Ltd., with an initial investment of $3.8 million and annual sales of approximately $264 million.
