Harvard Bioscience unit acquires BioRobotics

Sept. 23, 2003 — Harvard Bioscience Inc. subsidiary Genomic Solutions Ltd. has acquired BioRobotics Ltd., which makes and sells instruments for DNA microarray manufacturing, according to a company news release.

The $3.2 million purchase of Cambridge, England-based BioRobotics, a subsidiary of Apogent Technologies Inc., is designed to provide complementary product lines and strength in the European genomic product market. Genomic Solutions, of Ann Arbor, Mich., intends to combine operations at its Huntingdon, England-based facility and use a U.S. sales force and global distribution to promote sales, the release said.
