SMI launches new sensor chip

Sept. 23, 2003 — Silicon Microstructures Inc., a Milpitas, Calif., developer and manufacturer of MEMS-based silicon pressure sensors and custom microstructures, announced it has added a new pressure sensor chip to its line of MEMS sensors.

The Model 5112 is sold in die form to customers in medical, automotive and industrial markets. The chip is available for about $1 in quantities of more than 100,000, and will be built into various packages in the future, according to a company news release.
