SUSS director to steer MEMS group

Sept. 3, 2003 — Joe Brown, a regional marketing director for Germany-based SUSS MicroTec, has been elected the first chair of International MEMS Steering Group, according to a news release.

The group, created this year by the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) trade association, is seeking to globalize efforts to commercialize MEMS.

Brown, a board member of the Micro and Nanotechnology Commercialization Education Foundation (MANCEF), began his career at IBM’s global research headquarters in New York. He also served on the MEMS startup teams at TransSensory Devices and NovaSensor.
