FSA: Wafer prices up in 3Q

September 24, 2003 – CMOS wafer prices rose an average of 3% from 2Q03 to 3Q03, according to the Fabless Semiconductor Association (FSA).

In its quarterly pricing survey of 122 fabless companies and IDMs, the FSA says the majority of fabless respondents ordered 0.18-micron process technologies, with 13% requesting 0.13-micron.

IDMs, meanwhile, mainly ordered 0.35-micron features, with 17% ordering 0.13-micron processes. The survey also noted that only 2% of fabless companies used 300mm wafers, while 80% use 200mm and 19% use 150mm.
