Japan firms join for 65nm

October 10, 2003 – A group of Japanese semiconductor firms are joining forces to promote standardization for 65nm process technologies, according to the Nihon Keizai Shumbun.

Toshiba, NEC, Renesas, and other companies want to tap the experience and advice of the Advanced SoC Platform Corp. (ASPLA), which was set up to standardize 90nm process technologies.

The Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA) will hold a meeting later this month with its chipmaking member companies to discuss the initiative, with plans to develop a detailed strategy by 2Q04.
