NanoMuscle wrestles down $16 million

Oct. 16, 2003 — NanoMuscle Inc., an Antioch, Calif., developer of miniature linear actuators, announced it has closed on a $16 million Series C round of funding.

Vision Capital, Crossbow Ventures, FirstHand Capital, Capital Valley Ventures, AutoVision, NetPartners, Greyhound Fund, AFA Private Equity Fund, Schneider Electric and PacRim Ventures participated in the round.

NanoMuscle is targeting its miniature motors to the automotive and children’s toy markets. The company touts reduced weight and silent movement as among the key differentiators for its products.
