October 16, 2003 – ProMOS Technologies Inc., Taiwan’s third-largest memory chip manufacturer, confirmed it is in talks with a major semiconductor firm to jointly build a 300mm facility, but denies that the company is Japan’s Elpida Memory Inc., according to Dow Jones.
ProMOS spokesperson Albert Lin said the company is working with Elpida through on an agreement forged in May 2003, but that the cooperation is strictly focused on joint development of chipmaking technologies.
