ProMOS post 3Q profit

October 14, 2003 – ProMOS Technologies, Taiwan’s third-largest memory chip manufacturer, posted its first quarterly profit of the year in 3Q, reporting a net income of $25.8 million on revenue of $218 million.

The company credited “strong and stable” chip prices, as well as a separation from a partnership with Infineon that allows ProMOS to sell its DRAM chips directly to clients.

ProMOS said 4Q03 revenues would improve, but would not offer specifics due to the difficult-to-predict fluctuations in DRAM prices. ProMOS also plans to begin mass production using 0.14-micron processes in 4Q03, and shift to 0.12-micron by 1Q04.
