TAL licenses nanopowder technology to chemical maker

Oct. 29, 2003 — TAL Materials Inc., an Ann Arbor, Mich.-based provider of nanopowder production technology, has licensed its processes to a Michigan-based chemical supplier, according to a company news release.

Silbond Corp., of Weston, Mich., produces ethyl silicate, a precursor chemical for many of TAL’s nanopowders. Using TAL’s technology will allow Silbond to broaden its offerings to current customers in the paint, catalysts and electronics fields, as well as new customers, the release said.

TAL, whose technology enables production of metal oxide and mixed metal oxide nanopowders, is a spinout of the University of Michigan’s College of Engineering.
