TI to clear air with AppliedSensor’s MEMS

Oct. 16, 2003 – Texas Instruments Inc. (TI) has selected AppliedSensor Inc.’s MEMS-based gas sensor for an automotive air quality control system, according to a news release.

The technology developed by AppliedSensor, which has offices in Sweden, Germany and New Jersey, can detect and reduce the intake of toxic gases and volatile organic compounds, such as manure, compost and asphalt. TI plans to integrate the system in an Air Classification Module mounted in the air intake of the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning unit. The module is expected to be available by model year 2006, the release said.
