UMC sells AU Optronics shares

September 25, 2003 – Taiwan’s United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC) has applied to sell up to 49 million shares of flat panel maker AU Optronics Corp. The sale, which would generate approximately $64 million, cuts UMC’s stake in the company by about 10%.
