Varian, Unaxis settle patent dispute

September 25, 2005 – Varian Inc. has settled a patent infringment suit concerning leak detection technologies brought against it by Unaxis Balzers Aktiengesellschaft. Under the agreement, Varian will pay a one-time payment of $1.1 million to Unaxis, and recognize a charge in 4Q03.
