Belgian center expands into nano with $55M

Nov. 18, 2003 — Belgium’s IMEC, an independent microelectronics and microsystems research center, is continuing its expansion into nanoelectronics, courtesy of a $55 million, government-backed bank loan, according to a news release.

IMEC will use the money to build a nanoelectronics clean room, central utility building and offices. The loan was formulated with financial support from the European Investment Bank and guaranteed by the Belgian government, the release said.
