Sony to make and sell MEMS devices

Nov. 10, 2003 — Sony Corp. plans to make and market its own MEMS devices, according to a report in Japan’s Nihon Keizai Shimbun news service.

The company, which offers MEMS foundry services, said it will produce devices such as gyros, switches and filters while using its production methods to cut costs, the report said.

Sony, listed on NYSE, was trading at 36.77 midday Monday, up from Friday’s close of 36.16.
