EDA: Revenues, employment growing

December 18, 2003 – The electronic design automation (EDA) industry saw 3Q03 revenue of $950 million, a 1% increase from 3Q02, while employment was up 4% sequentially, according to the EDA Consortium, an association of companies providing tools and services for electronics engineers. The European market posted a 7% revenue increase in 3Q03 to $180 million, its first gain in seven quarters and surpassing Japan in terms of EDA consumption. The North American region, which purchased $506 million in EDA products and services in the third quarter (more than half of the worldwide total), was the only region to see a year-on-year decline in revenues.
