Motorola picks Zander as CEO

December 16, 2003 – Motorola Inc., Schaumburg, IL, has tabbed ex-Sun exec Edward Zander as its new chairman and CEO, replacing Christopher Galvin, effective January 5.

Most recently, Zander was a managing director of private equity fund Silver Lake Partners; prior to that he was COO of Sun Microsystems, overseeing the company’s manufacturing, R&D, and sales and marketing activities, and was also president of Sun’s software group.
