Russians fire up photon chips for space

Dec. 8, 2003 — A Moscow research and development institute has been developing display systems for future miniature spacecraft or surveillance systems, according to an English version of a report on the Russian news agency’s Interfax-AVN Web site.

The Tekhnomash institute has created photon chips using nanoscale production methods based on opalescent materials. The material could be used as part of an identification system for spacecraft that the institute is developing, the report said.
