STMicro buys wireless chip developer

December 19, 2003 – STMicroelectronics has acquired Synad Technologies Ltd., a UK startup developing wireless LAN technologies. STMicro will use Synad’s technology, which includes a full CMOS production-ready chipset with reference designs, as part of a new offering of dual-mode wireless LAN solution for NICs and access points.
