ASML CEO to step down

January 19, 2004 – ASML, Veldhoven, The Netherlands, said CEO Doug Dunn will retire before the end of this year. Dunn has been CEO since 1999. “No one could call the past five years dull,” he mused. “After 25 years in semiconductors, I will miss the excitement.”

In addition to the personnel news, ASML also reported 4Q03 and fiscal 2003 financial results. The company said it achieved a profit of ?16 million in 4Q03, well above analysts’ estimates of ?1.7 million, and a big turnaround from a ?50 million loss a year ago. However, analysts were disappointed with projections of slower-than-expected growth in orders.
