Intel appoints former fed trade rep

January 23, 2004 – Intel Corp., Santa Clara, CA, has named Charlene Barshefsky to its board of directors.

Barshefsky was the US trade representative in the Clinton administration from 1997-2001, and is a senior international partner at a law firm in Washington, DC. Her appointment should help the company with trade-related issues, particularly tax policies and complexities in the China market.

Intel also announced the resignation of board member and former Solectron Corp. CEO Winston Chen, effective in May. Chen, a director since 1993, is chairman of the board’s audit committee.
