Intel Capital makes Japan investments

January 21, 2004 – Intel Capital plans to invest an undisclosed amount in Japan Communications Inc., a wireless data and communications services provider and the first licensed wireless communications reseller for the corporate Japanese market, according to Dow Jones.

The deal is seen as a move to bolster support for Intel’s Centrino mobile chipsets. The chipmaker’s venture arm also recently invested $2.1 million in Pionics Co., a Japanese lithium polymer battery developer.
