Praxair, Samsung ink supplier deals

January 20, 2004 – Praxair Inc., Danbury, CT, has signed agreements to supply various gases including nitrogen, helium, and hydrogen for two of Samsung Electronics’ production facilities in Korea.

Praxair’s ultra-high-purity nitrogen will be used in Samsung’s Fab 13 300mm wafer fab in Hwasung, which produces wafers for DRAM and flash memory. Other gases will be used at Samsung’s LCD production facility in Tangjeong, billed as the world’s first 7th-generation TFT-LCD complex, for two production lines coming online in 3Q04 and 2006.

Mass production at the LCD plant, which consumes 10x as much process gas as a semiconductor fab, is scheduled to begin in 2005.
