Small tech firms make executive decisions

Jan. 7, 2004 — Three firms on Tuesday announced appointments or promotions within their executive ranks. Taking new jobs are:

    John Denzel, promoted to president and chief operating officer at Ultratech Inc. He had been executive vice president of operations for the San Jose, Calif.-based equipment maker.

    Bob Gregg, who joined Hillsboro, Ore.-based nanotool maker FEI Co. as its executive vice president and chief financial officer. He has served as a CFO or chief executive for several technology firms.

    Jiang Zhu, appointed chief science officer for US Global Nanospace Inc., a Carson City, Nev., company focusing on products for commercial and defense applications. He is a postdoctoral research scientist at Rice University, specializing in the development of high-performance composite nanomaterials.
