Sumitomo to open wire bonding firm

January 27, 2004 – Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. plans to create a new company in Shanghai to produce bonding wire for domestic chip assembly plants, with a target of 30% market share in 2006. The new company will join an existing Sumitomo factory in Kagoshima, along with establishments in Malaysia and Taiwan.
