January 28, 2004 – The Southern Taiwan Science Park has laid out its financial plans for 2004, aiming for a healthy 61% year-on-year increase in production value to $7.24 billion.
Director General of the park, Tai Chien, said that figure could top $9 billion. The park is home to 112 manufacturers, including a variety of technology firms from semiconductors and optoelectronics to biotechnology.
Optoelectronics reported $1.12 billion in exports and $1.87 billion in imports in 2003, up 60% and 171% respectively from a year ago. Semiconductor manufacturers exported $474 million and imported $374.4 million in 2003.
