TI shuffles executive deck

January 15, 2004 – Texas Instruments, Dallas, TX, said chairman and CEO Thomas Engibous plans to step down from his roles as president and CEO, effective May 1.

Rich Templeton, a 23-year TI veteran and company COO since 2000, will become the new president and CEO. Engibous held the roles since June 1996.

Also, TI announced the appointment of Hans Stork as the company’s first-ever CTO. Stork came to TI in 2001 after being director of HP Laboratories’ Internet systems and storage lab; he was named an IEEE Fellow in 1994 for his contributions in SiGe technology.

Lastly, TI has named Jean-Francois Fau as president of the company’s European operations, where he will oversee TI Europe’s sales, marketing, and applications in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Fau, who has held several senior positions in TI’s semiconductor group, most recently managed the company’s European wireless communications business unit.
