JAN. 29–TOKYO–Toshiba Corp., the world’s fourth-largest chip maker, expects to post a $249.6 million loss in PCs and PC peripherals in 2003/04, widening its previous loss estimate of $198 million.
Aggressive pricing by rivals Dell Inc. and Hewlett-Packard Co. battered PC operations at Toshiba, once the world’s largest maker of notebook computers, forcing it to cut the earnings outlook for the division last year twice in as many months.
