Amkor buying Taiwan test operations

February 12, 2004 – Amkor Technology Corp., Chandler, AZ, has agreed to acquire FICTA Technology Inc.’s 354,000 sq. ft. assembly and test facility in Taiwan for $42 million, more than doubling its domestic operations.

Amkor already was leasing a portion of the space for test operations, and plans to move its flip-chip production lines to the site. Some of the assembly space has already been equipped by FICTA, with the rest equipped during 2004 and 2005.

The deal accounts for about one-fifth of Amkor’s 2004 capex budget.
